Studies on the time required for hemosiderin production in the reticuloendothelial system after hemolysis and hemorrhage

Abstract
The histopathological studies of the reticuloendothelial system in rabbits following hemolysis and hemorrhage were performed in order to conform the time requiring for hemosiderin production and the microscopic appearance of hemosiderin granules.
The results were summarized as follows;
1) The time reqired for hemosiderin production is considered between 25 and 30 hours after hemolysis and hemorrhage.
2) After hemolysis, hemoglobin granules derived from red blood cells were engulfed mainly by polymorphonuclear leucocytes, but subsequent hemosiderin production in the neutrophiles were not observed.
3) The type of hemosiderin was minute granules in hemolysis and coares granules as large as red blood cell in hemorrhage.
